Held in late March each year, this is the local version of National Walk to School Day. The build up to the event includes a student “It’s Cool to Walk to School” poster contest and distribution of “Get Out of Jail Free” and walking loop cards the week before. Walk to School Week includes welcome tables at select elementary and K-8 schools across the city to promote safely walking to school both as quality time for parent/grandparents and the kids, as well as a personal wellness and community awareness activity.
