Community Walk Audits

Community Walk Audits--WLB conducts walk audits for a variety of our projects. Walk audits are small group walks focusing on observations. We lead them to explore how the built environment is designed, identify issues and safety concerns, and raise the awareness about how urban design affects walkability. Months after completing a walk audit, we hear from participants that they still look at their neighborhoods with fresh eyes, seeing features that they never noticed before. This act of mindfulness, of being present, noticing and being more aware of your surroundings, lingers long after the walk audit. We advocate for changes from the walk audit to improve or install crosswalks, improve signal timing, and other features that improve walkability.
